African Basket
- Traditional African Bolga Basket
The
sturdy African Baskets are hand crafted mainly by farmers who supplement
their income by making and selling baskets during the off season.
The African Baskets are sometimes called Bolga Baskets because they
are make in Bolgatanga, a village located in the north of Ghana,
africa. The leather covered handle and tight weave of the basket
adds to its' strength.
The Ghanaian people use the baskets for selling to tourists and
for storage and occasionally in the transport of goods to and from
the market place. We use them for everything from storing towels,
magazines or children's toys to carrying wood or library books.
These African Baskets are useful pieces of artwork.
Large,
apprx. 15 - 16 inches in diameter. Sizes and colors vary as items
are hand crafted. Fair Trade Item.
