Sabine, Topanien Gifts owner's daughter, carrying grass to feed the cuy's (guinea pigs). Sabine visited indigenous friends in the country. They spoke mainly Quechua. They are farmers and the day was spent working outdoors and visiting with curious neighbors. Sabine is spending the 2008-09 school year in Ecuador as a foreign exchange student.

words from Sabine on her day in the country:
"After a tasty and incredibly healthy lunch we hiked up a big hill to cut grass for the cuys (guinea pigs). We put the grass on our backs and headed back down the hill. Norma's nephew and I made whistles like dad makes with blades of grass. On the walk down, indigenous people we passed, stared at me with all that grass on my back. I laughed because it was rather different, but very fun!"
