Taxco is a small town in Mexico situated on steep hillside and
covered with whitewashed buildings and cobbled streets. Plan to
walk, use a taxi or the ever available, 'combi' which is a
volkswagon bus altered to fit about 18 bodies as it careens up
the steep slopes, through the Zocalo (town square) and then
rushes back down and around the hillside again all for just 4.5
pesos or about 50 cents. People sit tight against each other and
friendliness prevails.

Posada San Javier is a lush and lovely place to stay while in Taxco. The rooms are reasonably priced,
the guests are from around the globe and many frequent Taxco annually and can steer you towards some wonderful Silver shopping.
And children love the place for the pool and families from Mexico City who stay here.
Nadine has been buying Sterling Silver
Jewelry from Sergio and Laura for years.
"Once, I almost missed them when their
vacation to Acapulco coincided with my time in Taxco. In the end, they postponed their
trip because too many buyers such as
myself were in town and they didn't want to
pass up the business. Boy, was I ever
thankful. I always call ahead now." – Nadine
Sergio and Laura, two of Topanien Gifts jewelry suppliers.

<<< "One minute this idyllic, cobbled street was a steady flow of walkers; bustling along with their packages,
children and friends.
The next, we had traffic jam Taxco Mexico central (lower right photo)
in a bad way. Everyone stopped to
ohh and ahh -even me!"

Maybe Taxco should
install these handy
dandy crossing lights
that you find in Oaxaca.
When it is time to cross
a little bird starts to sing
and the man runs. Your
time to cross is shown
above the runner. Oh,
but it is the cars having
the problem in Taxco.
